Cephalothin

Cephalothin is an injectable drug known commercially as Keflin.

This is an antibacterial drug that works by eliminating bacteria and other microorganisms from the body, which are usually the cause of skin infections, pneumonia and urinary tract infections.

Indications for Cephalothin

Joint infection; skin and soft tissue infection; bone infection; urinary infection; post-surgery infections; pneumonia; generalized infection.

Side Effects of Cephalothin

Diarrhea; gastrointestinal disorders; allergies at the injection site.

Contraindications of Cephalothin

Pregnancy risk B; women in the lactation phase; individuals allergic to Penicillin.

Mode of use of Cephalothin

Injectable use

Adults

Pneumonia and urinary tract infection: Give 500 mg every 6 hours.
Serious Infection: 500 mg to 1 g, every 4 hours.

Children

15 to 25 mg per kg of body weight, every 4 hours or 20 to 40 mg per kg of body weight every 6 hours.

The injection can be applied to the muscle or veins, but administration in the muscles is very painful, avoid it whenever possible, especially in children.

After application, place ice in place. It is important not to apply the injection always in the same place, to avoid that there is irritation of the muscular tissue.
