Mode of Use of Atroveran Compound

Atroveran Compound is an analgesic and antispasmodic medication indicated for painful processes and colic. Papaverine hydrochloride, sodium dipyrone and the fluid extract of Atropa belladonna are the major components of Atroveran Compound. The Atroveran Compound can be found in tablet form (with 6 or 20 tablets) or in solution (30 ml).

Contraindications of Atroveran Compound

Patients who present allergy to any compound atroveran substance. Patients with acute angle glaucoma, hypertrophy of the prostate and individual who use narcotics, hypnotic drugs and barbiturates.

Adverse effects of Compound Atroveran

When used in high amounts, the product may cause nausea, tachycardia, dizziness and facial congestion. Papaverine base often causes elevation of plasma alkaline phosphatase, indicative of hepatotoxicity. The most serious, but quite rare, are shock and changes in blood components (agranulocytosis, leukopenia and thrombocytopenia). In occasional situations, especially in patients with a history of preexisting kidney disease or in cases of overdose, there may be transient renal disorders with oliguria or anuria, proteinuria and interstitial nephritis. Asthma attacks can be observed in patients predisposed to such condition.

Mode of Use of Atroveran Compound

Tablet:
- 2 to 3 tablets. Not to exceed the maximum dose of 8 tablets per day.
Solution:
- 40 drops in a goblet, 10 minutes before meals, two to three times a day.
- In special cases, doses will be increased, which can be 40 to 80 drops at a time. The children will take half or the third of the indicated dose, according to each case.
